The state of Karnataka has been recording hefty pre-Monsoon rains for the past many days. In the past day also scattered light to moderate pre-Monsoon spells occurred over parts of Karnataka. Belgaum recorded rain to the tune of 18.5 mm, Gulbarga 16.6 mm, Mangalore 12.5 mm, Bengaluru 2.5 mm, Agumbe and Honavar 2 mm of rains in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over the southern parts of Kerala. An upper air trough is also extending from this system up to South Madhya Maharashtra. Simultaneously, a low -pressure area also lies over the southeastern parts of Arabian Sea off coastal parts of North Kerala and South Karnataka. It is anticipated that this weather system would intensify into a well-marked low-pressure area in the next 24 hours.

In view of these combined weather phenomena’s, moderate to heavy rain is likely to occur at many stations of coastal Karnataka such as Mangalore, Udupi, Honavar, Karwar, Madikeri, and Shimoga. Meanwhile, Bengaluru is likely to record light to moderate pre Monsoon rains.
The remaining districts of the state would also record good rains as the intensity of showers is likely to increase with the further advancement of Monsoon. In wake of the pre-Monsoon rains, the temperatures are also expected to witness a drop.
