In the wake of the weather systems effecting the eastern and northeastern parts of the country, few places in Chhattisgarh have also experienced light to moderate rain and thundershower activities. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Jagdalpur recorded moderate rainfall activity to the tune of 32 mm. Meanwhile, few more places such as Ambikapur recorded patchy light rain.

These weather activities have been attributed to the north-south trough extending from Bihar to Karnataka across parts of Chhattisgarh. Further also, this weather system is likely to persist for some more time. Therefore, we expect on and off rain and thundershower activities to continue in isolated pockets of Chhattisgarh. Places such as Jagdalpur, Ambikapur, Jharsuguda are likely to receive rains.

Weather Alert for Chhattisgarh: Spell of rain and thundershower activity with strong winds (40-50 kmph) is likely over Balod, Baloda Bazar, Balrampur, Bastar, Bemetara, Bijapur, Bilaspur, Dakshin Bastar Dantewada, Jashpur, Kondagaon, Korba, Koriya, Mahasamund, Mungeli, Narayanpur, Raigarh, Raipur, Sukma, Surajpur and Surguja today.

Further, on April 11 and 12, intensity and spread of these weather activities will increase. During this period, rains will be accompanied with strong winds. As the Pre-Monsoon season is going on, these rains will mostly occur during the late afternoon or evening hours.

In the wake of such weather conditions we can expect the day temperatures to drop marginally, which are currently settling between 35˚C to 40˚C. Along with this, night temperatures may also drop by 2˚C to 3˚C over few districts.

April 13 onward rains will start vacating the state and thereafter, the weather conditions in Chhattisgarh will become dry and warm.
