After light rains during the last couple of days, Chennai is once again witnessing dry weather. At present, the state capital is reeling under warm weather conditions with the temperatures settling several degrees above the normal average.
Though weather during the early mornings and evenings are comparatively pleasant but the afternoons are warm and uneasy. The reason for the ongoing dry and warm weather conditions in Chennai can be attributed to the moisture available in the atmosphere. Due to this, the maximum temperature is settling in higher 30’s. Minimums are also settling several notches above the normal in lower 30°C.
However, soon Chennai will be drenched with rain and thundershowers once again.
As reiterated by Skymet Weather, a trough is running from Lakshadweep region up to South Chhattisgarh across Interior Tamil Nadu. For the next 24-36 hours, rains will be restricted only to the interior region of Tamil Nadu.
Henceforth, this weather system is likely to move eastwards. Weather of the city will become cloudy resulting in some scattered showers making their way towards Chennai on March 10 until March 11. These rains are likely to continue to lash the city for at least a period of two to three days.
Moreover, cloudy weather is also expected to occur on the night of March 8 but good rainy spells and thundershowers are not expected before March 10.
