Rains have finally made their way to Bengaluru, with the city recording light showers yesterday. Intense clouding had engulfed the city by Thursday afternoon hours, with rains following soon by the evening.
In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, the state capital had recorded 6 mm of rains. This is not all, another spell of rain and thundershowers would lash Bengaluru today as well.
According to Skymet Weather, weather conditions remain conducive for the weather activity. In fact, we expect increase in both spread and intensity of rain and thundershowers.

However, as reiterated before, these are pre- Monsoon showers and thus, would occur during the other half of the day. Showers would be of short duration but would be intense in nature.

The north-south trough from Telangana to North Tamil Nadu across South Interior Karnataka continues to persist. Besides this, an anti cyclone is seen over Bay of Bengal, which has been infusing moisture over the region. The low pressure area is also persisting in Southeast Arabian Sea. Although the system is far away from the coast to have direct impact but it has been definitely influencing the wind pattern.
All these systems have been creating favourable weather conditions for rain and thundershowers.
In wake of this, mornings and evenings would be pleasant, while afternoon would also be fairly comfortable. It is also quite possible that Bengaluru might surpass its monthly rain average of 18.5 mm. In last decade, there have been only three episodes wherein the garden city has managed to cross the monthly mean during March.
