As predicted Skymet Weather, pre-Monsoon rain in Bengaluru made a comeback after a brief break of 24 hours and that too with a bang. At present, moderate rain and thundershowers have been lashing the capital city. These rains would be accompanied with some strong winds as well.

Thick clouding had engulfed the city during the noon hours, with rains making an appearance soon. The cloud configuration is indicating that these showers are here to stay, and activity would continue for another couple of hours.

According to Skymet Weather, a north-south trough is running from northern parts of the county to South Interior Karnataka that has been infusing moisture over the region. Rise in day maximums triggered the development of cumulative clouds over the region, resulting in rains.

Further, the trough is likely to persist over the region for some more days. Thus, these on and off rains would continue for the next 2-3 days. Sky will also remain mostly cloudy to partly cloudy. In fact, intensity of rain is expected to increase around May 25, as the Monsoon 2018 nears.

Monsoon 2018 is most likely to make an onset over Kerala by May 28, with an error margin of +2 days. These showers can be touted as the precursor to Monsoon.

In wake of this, day temperatures would continue to be in lower 30s, while minimum temperatures would be in the lower 20s. Hence, we can say evening and morning will be pleasant, while day would be little warm but comfortable.

This year, it seems to be a good pre-Monsoon season for Karnataka, particularly Bengaluru. Rain and thundershowers of varying intensity have been lashing the city for last many days. In fact, there have been only 3-4 days in May when the city has seen a dry spell.

The average rains for Bengaluru for the month of May are 107.4 mm but the capital city has already surpassed its monthly mean with 183.8 mm of rainfall till now.
