Pre-monsoon activities to intensify over Rajasthan and Gujarat

Between March 1 and April 27, Saurashtra and Kutch received 8% surplus rainfall whereas the Gujarat region is rain deficient by 84%. East Rajasthan fared much better than West Rajasthan as East Rajasthan recorded 40% deficient rain in compared to West Rajasthan which is deficient by 60%.

Weather of Gujarat remains usually dry during pre-monsoon season. The average rainfall between March 1st and April 27 for Saurashtra and Kutch is just 1.3 mm and for Gujarat region it is 1.7 mm. Now pre monsoon activities are going to intensify and Gujarat region may become rain surplus in coming days. Rajasthan will also start receiving good pre-monsoon activities in terms of dust storm and thunder showers.

A cyclonic circulation is over south Sindh and adjoining Saurashtra and Kutch up to 9.0 km above mean sea level. This cyclonic circulation will gradually move in North east direction towards Rajasthan. Ongoing rain and thundershower activities are expected to continue in patches over parts of Gujarat for next few days. Isolated dust storm is possible over Rajasthan on April 29. Dust storm along with rain and thundershowers will increase over Rajasthan from April 30. Intensity of rain may also increase over Gujarat region on April 30 and May 1st. Monsoon rain and thundershowers will intensify over many parts of Rajasthan between April 2 and 6. Eastern districts will receive moderate to heavy showers. Intensity of rain may be comparatively less over western districts. Temperature of Rajasthan may also drop why 2 to 4 degree during first week of May.
