Pre-monsoon activities to commence over Northwest India, will spread over central India next week

The western disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir, and an induced cyclonic circulation is over Northwest Rajasthan and adjoining area. A trough is extending from this cyclonic circulation to western parts of Uttar Pradesh across Haryana and Delhi. Dust storm and thunderstorm are expected over parts of Punjab Haryana North Rajasthan and isolated pockets of west Uttar Pradesh. Wind speed during the dust storm over parts of Rajasthan may reach 40 to 50 Kmph. Humidity will be low, therefore the rain will be scattered and in patches.

Between April and the first half of June, the occurrence of dust storm is more common over the north western parts of the country. Sometimes, wind speed reaches 80 to 90 Kmph during the month of May, leading to widespread damage to life and property.

Pre-monsoon activities are expected to commence over parts of Vidarbha and adjoining Chhattisgarh By April 9. Between April 11 and 15, parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Rajasthan may witness thunderstorm, patchy rain and thundershowers.

These pre-monsoon activities will keep the rising temperatures under check. But occasional incidents of heatwave will also come up.
