Usually, during the Monsoon season, several weather systems develop in both the Bay of Bengal as well as the Arabian Sea. However, the frequency of developments of weather systems is higher over the Bay of Bengal. These weather systems develop in the form of cyclonic circulation, furthermore intensifying into low-pressure areas, depressions and even into cyclones if given enough sea travel time.

This Monsoon season also, several systems have developed in the Bay as well as very few being developed in the Arabian Sea. Currently, a Monsoon system in the form of a cyclonic circulation has developed in the North Bay of Bengal.

Under this system’s influence, a low-pressure area is expected to form during the next 24 hours. Due to the formation of this system, many parts of East, Central as well as western parts of the country will witness good showers in the coming days.

The low-pressure area is likely to form over the Odisha coast due to which South Coastal Odisha, Chhattisgarh and a few parts of Telangana are expected to witness good rains today evening onward.

Thereafter, the weather system is likely to move in a westward direction. Thus, by tomorrow rainfall will also occur over more parts of Telangana, Vidarbha as well as some parts of Marathwada.

Not only this, by August 20, these rainfall activities will cover more states including Southwest Madhya Pradesh, North Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat as well as southwestern parts of Rajasthan as it continues to move towards the west.

Thus, during the next few days, many parts of the country will witness rains resulting in some improvement in the deficient rainfall figures.
