Potential low pressure in Bay to give good rains over South Tamil Nadu

Northeast Monsoon has remained subdued over entire South Peninsular India. So much so that cities in both Tamil Nadu and Kerala have not been able to reach their monthly rain data. In fact, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai is witnessing the worst November in terms of rain during the last four years.

However, good news is in the cards for some parts of Tamil Nadu. At present, a trough of low is over equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining South Bay of Bengal. Under the influence of this weather feature, a weather system in the form of a low-pressure area is expected to develop over Southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka coast around November 21.

This weather system is not expected to intensify much because the low-pressure area will not get too much of sea travel. Sri Lanka, which is expecting good rains for quite some time now will expect more rains in the coming days due to this weather system.

Good rains are likely over parts of Southern Tamil Nadu which has received a few good spells of rains during the past few days. However, other parts of the state will continue to witness dry weather conditions as the weather system is expected to not travel too much.
