Potential depression to intensify rains over Andhra Pradesh and Odisha

After the passage of Cyclone Kyant, another strong weather system has developed in Bay of Bengal. Presently seen as a well-marked low pressure area in southeast Bay of Bengal, the system is likely to intensify into a depression anytime soon.

Further, weather conditions are indicating that the system has full potential to further strengthen into a deep depression.

Moving at a fast pace, it will continue to travel in northwest direction towards Andhra Pradesh coast till November 4. Thereafter, the system is likely to re-curve and take northerly route for a brief period before moving in north-northeastwards along the east coast of India.

According to Skymet Weather, chances of this system intensifying into a cyclonic storm are very less as it is moving at a very fast pace that would not give it much time for intensification. However, one has to wait and watch for the further development.

The system has already given light to moderate rains over parts of North Coastal Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Now with depression likely, rains and thundershowers are expected to increase over coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha November 3 onwards.

On November 4, we can expect moderate to heavy showers over the region. The system will affect the weather over Gangetic West Bengal in terms of good rains. Kolkata will also witness good rain activity.

By November 5, Coastal Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal may receive heavy to very heavy rains as the system will move further north.

Along with rain and thundershowers, moderate to strong winds can also be witnessed along the East Coast. Sea conditions will also be rough to very rough and fishermen are advised against venturing out in the sea.
