April 2, 2014 2:15 PM |

Day temperatures in northwest India are expected to rise during the next two days. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir and its associated cyclonic circulation over north Rajasthan will stay in the region till Wednesday due to which maximums would record below normal. However, the weather systems would quickly move east northeastwards by forenoon of Thursday, resulting in more surface heating and pushing up the temperatures.

Skymet Meteorology Division in India forecast rain at several places in northwest India over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

On Tuesday, day temperatures at several places in northwest India including Amritsar, Hisar, Karnal, Jammu, Jaipur and Agra rose marginally to settle in the early thirties. Maximums are expected to rise further on Thursday, making the weather hot in these places.

Weather in East India over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will remain clear with near normal day temperatures. Meanwhile, Skymet Meteorology Division in India expects some post noon or late evening showers in parts of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next 48 hours due to the mixing up of northwesterly and southeasterly winds. Moist winds from the Bay of Bengal would also give isolated rain in northeastern states during the next 24 hours.

Southeasterly winds will also give rain in some coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Some places in interiors of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu may observe heat wave like conditions as day temperatures are above normal by 5 degrees.

Anantapur, Kurnool, Nellore, Ramagundam, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, Gurbarga and Bellary in north interior Karnataka witnessed temperatures in the early forties on Tuesday. Such temperatures are expected to maintain in the region for the next two days.
