February 23, 2014 1:30 PM |

As rain in North India subsided, explains Skymet's Meteorology Division in India, a lot of moisture was left behind which gave rise to dense fog in Delhi and other stations in the northern plains including parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Today morning at around 6 am, Palam airport in Delhi observed dense fog with 50 meters of visibility for almost 2 hours. The runway visual range was also less at 250 meters. Amritsar in Punjab also reported dense fog with 50 meters of visibility. In Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi and Agra witnessed shallow fog. Several stations including Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh observed shallow fog. The Indian Meteorology condition, in terms of fog and rain will be better tomorrow.

Temperatures in North India

As predicted by Skymet's Meteorology Division in India, minimums across the northern plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and adjoining areas have risen to double digits barring few places like Amritsar which recorded 5°C, today morning. The night temperatures are likely to drop tomorrow as the weather is clear now. The minimum temperature recorded at the Palam observatory in Delhi on Sunday morning was 12.5°C.

The maximums dropped marginally in view of clouding but will be on the rise from now onwards. In Delhi maximums dropped from 24.6°C on Friday to 22.3°C at its Safdarjung Observatory on Saturday. The Palam Observatory also saw maximum drop to 24.5°C on Saturday from 25.2°C, the day before. Today the day temperatures across the northern plains will show marginal changes and rise gradually.

According to latest weather update by Skymet's Meteorology Division in India, the circulation over Rajasthan has reached Bihar and adjoining Uttar Pradesh. The system has lost strength and will become insignificant by tonight. However, we cannot rule out the possibility of some rain in Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh today. The rain belt could extend up to West Bengal as well.
