First cyclonic storm of October 2016 in Bay of Bengal is expected to form soon. Initially a low pressure system over central parts of Bay of Bengal was observed intensifying into a depression on the morning of October 21.
This system will continue to move in northerly direction and yesterday the system has intensified into a deep depression. By October 24 we expect it to further intensify into a Cyclone and reach near Myanmar coast.
Till now vertical wind shear was strong that was restricting its intensification but as it will reach Myanmar coast and start moving in a northwest direction. Wind shear is expected to decrease paving the path for a Cyclone to form. Thereafter, it will travel Northwest Bay of Bengal and may keep intensifying further.
By October 27, it is expected to reach near Indian coast most probably over Odisha coast. But we expect few showers to commence over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha coast by night of October 27 and increase rainfall.
Exact place of landfall over India is still uncertain but with a keen eye we are keeping a track over the system. So follow Skymet Weather for regular update on national and international weather.
