Presently, Kolkata is reeling under hot and humid conditions. Uneasy and uncomfortable afternoons are prevailing over Kolkata since few days. Meanwhile, a Depression has formed and is likely to intensify into a deep depression over east Central and adjoining Bay of Bengal which is moving northwards, initially. Later on, this will help in bringing much-needed relief from the heat over Kolkata.
With this, good amount of rainfall along with strong gusty winds may occur at many places over Kolkata and the adjoining areas.
The ‘city of joy’ Kolkata will start receiving rain by May 30-31 of the month. Furthermore, pre-Monsoon activities will once again increase over the regions.

According to Skymet weather, these weather systems are expected to impact the weather over interior parts of West Bengal and light thunder activities are also expected over Kolkata during the next two to three days. However, these activities may not help in bringing so much relief over the areas. Kolkata and adjoining areas will remain hot and humid, till then.
Meanwhile, after 48 hours rains are likely to intensify and a slight drop in temperature is expected, thereafter.
Moreover, the approaching rainy spell stands a firm chance to continue over Kolkata and the adjoining areas until the arrival of Monsoon, which is foreseen to make an onset over Kolkata in the second week of June.
