Poor visibility in Delhi, Amritsar and Allahabad as dense fog engulfs North India

Dense to very dense fog in Delhi and other parts of North India continues for a second consecutive day today with visibility recorded between nil to 50 meters at several places including Amritsar, the national capital Delhi and Allahabad.

Visibility remained nil at all these places from Thursday late night till 4 am on Friday morning. Post 4 a.m, visibility levels continued to hover between 50 and 150 meters till 7 am. The visibility level in Palam area in Delhi was 150 meters at 7:30 am.

Till 7:30 am today, at least five flights were delayed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport which recorded better runaway visibility on Friday than Thursday leading to a lesser number of flight delays.

Fog in Delhi on Thurdays continued till noon and led to a fall in day temperatures to 20.5°C from 22°C on Wednesady. The minimum temperature in Delhi on Friday recorded 10.2°C.

This period of dense fog in Delhi and other areas of North India is expected to get better from Saturday onwards due to the arrival of a fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir.
