In view of continuously deteriorating air quality, AirAsia India has started a campaign to provide pollution resistant masks to its passengers flying to the National Capital Territory. The campaign came into action on November 19 and will continue until November 29.
The airlines would provide pollution resistant masks to its passengers flying to Delhi from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Kolkata. ‘We have partnered with health technology start-up Mfine for this initiative’, announced the airlines on Tuesday.
Delhi pollution is again the talk of the town with AQI breaking all records. At present, PM 2.5 is in the moderate to poor category, while PM 10 in poor to very poor category in most of the places. Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi-NCR on Tuesday settled at 269, which is very unhealthy.
Low temperatures with high pollution is making a deadly combination for Delhiites. Whenever there is a drop in temperatures, the air mass becomes cold and dense, thus suspending the movement of air pollutants. This adds up to pollution, making it difficult to breathe.
The winds from northwest direction would become very light during the next two days. As a result, pollution in Delhi and NCR area would peak on November 21 and 22 and AQI may enter 'hazardous' category in many areas.
