Looks like Hyderabad is following the footsteps of national capital, Delhi. With due time, the Air Quality in Hyderabad is deteriorating day by day. Recently, The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) generated the Air Quality Index (AQI) bulletin which mentioned that the air quality of Hyderabad has been recorded worse than that of Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati and Rajamahendravaram.
Out of the 91 cities studied, it has been noted that Hyderabad was worse than 34 cities out of the studied ones. As per the data dated February 18, the AQI of Hyderabad was 116 and was in the ‘moderate’ category. Such a category is capable of causing discomfort to people suffering with asthma and heart diseases. Poor levels of AQI can be attributed to traffic and industries.
Almost 1,000 vehicles are added daily on the road and this has certainly led to rise in pollution levels. The Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) added that they have been putting efforts to curb the amount of pollution caused due to vehicles.
Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has promised to launch eco-friendly and noiseless electric buses in order to curb the amount of pollution because of vehicles. The buses would travel from different parts of the city for the passengers travelling to Shamshabad airport. The trial of the buses has been done and are ready to be brought to use.
