The hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been witnessing good Monsoon rains for last couple of days. However, rains have now taken a back seat, paving way for dry weather conditions, with isolated rains.
As a result, the weather across the famous hill stations such as Manali, Shimla, Srinagar, Mussoorie, Dharamsala, and Nainital is pleasant.

These pleasant weather conditions are likely to prevail across the regions for the next few days. The sky will remain mainly cloudy and the temperatures will remain below normal. It is anticipated that only light rains may occur otherwise the weather will remain dry.
It is the best time to head towards the hills for a pleasant stay as there are no chances of hefty rainfall activities that could lead to landslides and flash floods. Till now, the axis of Monsoon trough was running close to the foothills which gave good rains over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Uttarkashi witnessed 28 mm of rain, Pantnagar 24.4 mm, Joshimath 21 mm, Dharamsala 22.2 mm, Shimla 25.6 mm, Solan 11.8 mm and Manali 7 mm.
At present, a cyclonic circulation has developed over Northeast Rajasthan which has pulled down the western end of the axis of Monsoon trough over the northern plains.
Due to the southward movement of the axis of Monsoon trough the rain intensity will now reduce over Western Himalayas. As per Skymet Weather, the frequency and intensity of Western Disturbances have also reduced. Moreover, these systems have started traveling through upper latitudes, which means that the Western Disturbances have shifted north of India leading to mainly dry weather conditions with light showers only.
