We have entered the month of April and the hot weather is yet to make us sweat as rain and clouds are keeping the temperatures in the national capital Delhi under check. This is similar to what was experienced in March when a number of Western Disturbances - more than what was expected – gave good amounts of rain in the city keeping the weather pleasant throughout the month.

The maximum temperature recorded in Delhi on Thursday was 31.8⁰C, which is about two degrees below normal. On the 1st of April the maximum recorded in the city was 30.8⁰C, which is again a couple of notches below normal. However, it did rise on the 2nd of April to record 35.2⁰C but that did not make much difference as it was marginally above normal. So this gives us a clear picture as to how the weather has been during the first few days of April.

The reason behind the pleasant weather has been the frequent occurrences of Western Disturbances (WD) and cyclonic circulations over Rajasthan that have been giving rain in Delhi. Even if the weather has been dry in Delhi, rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir has managed to affect the weather in the city in terms of cool northerly winds reaching the northwest plains.

Rain in Delhi on 2nd of April was due to WD, which is again expected to give rain on the 7th after which it will move eastward towards western Uttar Pradesh, according to Skymet Meteorology Division in India. So the pleasant weather in Delhi will continue for another four to five days.
