Mumbai, Pune and Nashik lie in proximity, but varied weather conditions are observed on account of Mumbai being on the upward side of the Ghats and Pune as well as Nashik being on the leeward side.
Mumbai, which lies in the Konkan region happens to be one of the heaviest pockets. Meanwhile, Pune and Nashik are on the lee side of the Ghats. Thus, not only are the weather patterns different but also the sequence of weather observed are different.
Mumbai observes incessant rainfall activity on successive days meanwhile, both Pune and Nashik record frequent but short spells of rains. Invariably, Mumbai observes active conditions in terms of rains throughout the Monsoon season while Pune and Nashik see lesser rains comparatively.

There are rare occasions when all these areas record rains simultaneously. It is only when a system in the Bay of Bengal develops and move towards the central parts or an insitu system which may bring rains towards the areas of Pune and Nashik.
Meanwhile, Mumbai sees rains due to moisture incursion and system development in the Arabian Sea along with the off-shore trough which is a semi-permanent feature during the Southwest Monsoon.
As of now, all these three areas have received good rains and performed fairly well. In fact, Mumbai and Pune both have already surpassed their monthly averages well before the month of June ended. Meanwhile, Nashik is inching towards reaching its monthly mean.
So far, Mumbai has recorded 771.6 mm against 493.1 mm rainfall while Pune has recorded 142.4 mm against its normal of 142.4 mm. Meanwhile, Nashik has so far witnessed 110.4 mm against 136 mm of rainfall.
Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, weather conditions will remain pleasant over all the three cities, but heavy rains are ruled out for some time. Sky conditions will remain cloudy over these areas. Cloudy skies, high humidity levels, and light to moderate rains will keep the temperatures under check.
Light to moderate showers will continue over the city of Mumbai until July 1, thereafter intensity of rains will increase, and heavy rains may be observed. Pune and Nashik will continue to see rains of light to moderate intensity.
