Due to the passage of Western Disturbance, light rainfall was observed over the Northwestern Plains of India on November 2 and 3. In wake of this weather system, scattered fog was also observed which reduced visibility during the morning hours.

In fact, due to the fairly widespread rain and snowfall activity over the hills of North India especially the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, significant drop in both day and night temperatures has been observed over the plains of India.

Moreover, many districts in Punjab that lie along the foothills of Himalayas recorded very low minimum temperatures almost 2 to 3 degrees below normal.

Yesterday, Ludhiana recorded its lowest minimum temperature at 11.1˚C which was 5 degrees below normal, followed by Pathankot 5.8˚C, Amritsar 9.9˚C, Patiala 13.1˚C, Jalandhar 10.0˚C and Kapurthala 9.6˚C.

In Haryana, Hisar recorded its night temperature at 8.5˚C, followed by Sirsa 10.5˚C, Bhiwani 11.4˚C, Karnal 12.8˚C and Gurgaon 13.6˚C.

Now, all the states of Northwest India are expected to witness clear sky conditions with light to moderate winds. Therefore, due to the northwesterly winds blowing over the region, pleasant weather with low minimums will continue over the plains of Northwest India. We do not expect temperatures to drop or rise during the next two days.
