Passage of the successive Western Disturbances coming from Afghanistan have been travelling in upper latitudes and are continuously influencing the weather over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh. However, these Western Disturbances were feeble in nature and as a result no such heavy rains and snowfall have been experienced but weather has become pleasant.

On and off scattered light rains are likely to continue over Jammu and Kashmir due to the presence of a fresh Western Disturbance. Isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh have also experienced scattered rains. There is also a possibility of snowfall in upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir. But the weather is expected to become clear in the next 24 hours.

As per meteorologists at Skymet Weather, another Western Disturbance is foreseen around October 8. This would give light to moderate rains and thundershowers in parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Vaishno Devi and Katra may also receive few spells of rain. The intensity of rains will not be heavy or very heavy, thus pilgrims can easily plan their trip to Vaishno Devi shrine during Navratras.

Temperature is expected to fall by 3-4 degrees around October 8, leading to comfortable to pleasant weather. Day temperature in Katra will be around 25-26 degree- Celsius and minimum temperature will be around 16 degree- Celsius.

However, temperatures at Vaishno Devi Bhawan will be lower than the plains. Day temperatures will be around 21 degree- Celsius and at night it will be around 11-12 degree- Celsius. Thus nights would be very cool. Pilgrims should make it a point to carry some warm clothes with them.
