Delhiites have been enjoying an unusually cool and pleasant weather this March and now the capital city sets a new record by receiving 86.3 mm of rain surpassing the all-time high of 78.2 mm, recorded in the year 1915.
Delhi witnessed a rainy weekend with pleasant weather luring localities as well as tourists to step out and enjoy the refreshing conditions.
Rain in Delhi
Light patchy rain continued throughout the day on Sunday. Safdarjung received 3.6 mm of rain, while Palam recorded 1.9 mm.
On an average, the city observes 1.4 rainy days with 13.5 mm of rain during the month. According to the data available with Skymet, the years 2008, 2010 and 2012 were totally dry, while one spell of rain was observed in 2011.
Temperatures in Delhi
As predicted by Skymet, temperatures came down significantly on Sunday. Maximum at the Safdarjung Observatory was 9 degrees below normal average at 19.6°C. In Palam as well, the maximum was 8 degrees below normal at 20.9°C.
Minimum temperatures also witnessed a marginal drop and settled around 14.2°C at Safdarjung and 14.8°C at Palam Observatory, today morning.
Cool northwesterly winds will keep temperatures under check at least for next 24 hours. By tomorrow maximum could rise up to 26°C and but will remain around 24°C today.
