During the entire time span of January, the plains of Northwest India were affected by Induced Cyclonic Circulation which developed in the wake of successive Western Disturbances over hills of North India. Due to such weather activity, the temperatures witnessed wide fluctuations particularly the minimum temperatures. They oscillated between 7-9°C and in span of 24 hours they would jump up to 13-14°C.
This wide change in temperatures was due to change in winds patterns. Whenever cold northwest winds start blowing, temperatures tend to drop and in the wake of Western Disturbance and Induced Cyclonic Circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan. Winds change direction from Southeast to Southwest leading to increase in temperature.
Now the next Western Disturbance will approach around February 15. Till then we do not expect the temperatures to fluctuate. However there may be a marginal increase in day and night temperature. But the variation will not be sudden and steep.
In other words we can say that the days will be clear with bright sunshine. Temperatures will be in the lower 20s to mid-20s. Therefore pleasant weather will continue over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. Minimum temp will remain between 8-11°C. Hence the nights will be cool but the severe winter chill will remain absent and we do not expect the chill to make a comeback.
