Pleasant weather condition dawns upon Rajasthan after pre-Monsoon showers

May 6, 2016 2:42 PM |

Rajasthan rainsA cyclonic circulation is still persisting over Northern parts of Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana and Punjab. A trough is extending from this system up to southern parts of Rajasthan. Humid southwesterly winds coming from the Arabian Sea are continuously feeding moisture over the area. The available moisture content in combination with high temperatures is leading to the development of thunder clouds.

The convective clouds hovering over many parts of Central and North Rajasthan have brought rain and thundershowers accompanied by squally winds and hailstorm at some places over the region. Adjoining areas of Madhya Pradesh also received squally winds and hailstorm activities.

During last 24 hours, Churu received 14 mm of rain, Jaipur 5 mm, Sikar 2 mm, Pilani 1.2 mm and Sri Ganganagar 0.3 mm. Though these rainfall amounts are quite less, many places have received good thunderstorm activities. This has helped in cooling down weather conditions considerably.

Now the prevailing weather systems are fading away and we expect fair weather conditions for next few days. Temperatures will rise gradually over the area but heatwave conditions are not likely for now. In most parts of Rajasthan temperatures are settling below the 40-degree mark except for few pockets of Southeast Rajasthan.

On Thursday, maximum settled 9°C below normal average at 31.5°C in Bikaner. Churu was also comfortable at 35.5°C, which is 7°C below normal. Jaisalmer is enjoying even better weather conditions with maximum at 32.4°C, a whopping 10°C below normal.

Rainfall activities will stop completely after 24 hours but temperatures will not rise significantly as the southwesterly winds will continue to blow over the area. By May 11, thunderstorm/ thundershowers may commence once again commence.
