The scorching summer heat has remained almost absent from Delhi-NCR for quite some time now.
Temperatures have remained under check for the past 2 to 3 days. Maximums have been recorded below 40 degrees during the last few days.
Mornings in Delhi have become quite pleasant. Strong winds blowing during the morning hours from the northerly direction have kept the intense heat far away from the national capital.
However, afternoons continue to remain warm. The temperatures continue to remain in the mid-30s. These conditions are characteristics of the Pre-Monsoon season.
These pleasant mornings can be attributed to the northwesterly winds which are blowing over the plains of North India.
Presently, a Western Disturbance is affecting the Western Himalayas, which has resulted in the drop in temperatures over the hills. Thus, northwesterly winds blowing from this direction are cold and are keeping the temperatures under check in Delhi.
These conditions will remain the same for the next two days. While the national capital is not likely receive any rain during this period, the weather will be comfortable and windy in Delhi and the NCR region for another two days at least.
After that, the wind direction will change to westerly-southwesterly. These southeasterly winds will be blowing from the areas where temperatures are already well above the average levels.
Thus, weather in Delhi-NCR will also witness a change. Both maximums and minimums will see a rise after two days. Maximums are likely to cross the 40-degree mark during this time.
The intense summer heat will creep in wreaking havoc over the residents of Delhi and the NCR region.
