Gujarat, a western state in India which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula, conventionally experiences no weather activity during the winter months. It is hence a fair weather pocket with benign weather conditions in winter.
Weather scenarios like biting cold and frosty chilly scenes, witnessed in North India are not to be found in the land of dhokla, khandvi and thepla.
The state of Gujarat has a very long coastline. The Arabian Sea shapes the state's western coast. Although the presence of almost inoperative or comatose winter in Gujarat, the territory experiences climatic interruptions due to two factors. The first one is due to the intrusions in the Arabian Sea. Nevertheless, not all obtrusion happening in the Arabian Sea affect the weather in Gujarat. It is only those weather systems which approach the coastal regions of Maharashtra and coastal Gujarat that have a significant impact on this province.

The second factor for climatic interruption is the induced low or induced cyclonic circulation of the Western Disturbances. When these systems start affecting the southern region of Rajasthan, which shares the geographical boundary with Gujarat, the region confronts weather changes.
Hence, the months from December to February are considered dry months for the state. The coastal stations of the region enjoy small diurnal variation, which is the difference between maximum and minimum temperature.
The state did witness fairly widespread rains because of Cyclone Ockhi which were light to moderate in intensity. Now, the system has diffused and it is becoming insignificant. Therefore, subsequent good weather conditions for the area are predicted. The next week would mark the region with sunny, warm days and pleasant nights.
Places like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, and Gandhinagar would enjoy comfortable days ahead.
