Pilibhit, Rampur, Bahraich, Bareilly braces for patchy Monsoon rains

After battering parts of Uttar Pradesh with a few good spells also including isolated three-digit rains a few a couple of days back, rains took a backseat.

Though a few districts, particularly lying in the western and eastern region of the state received some light rains in the last 24 hours, the other regions mainly remained dry. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Agra received 2 mm of rains, Jhansi 1 mm, Varanasi 1 mm, Gorakhpur 1 mm, and Bahraich received 4 mm of rainy spells.

The rains as per Skymet Weather can be attributed to the well-marked low-pressure area that was persisting over West Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan. In the wake of this, rains occurred over parts of Uttar Pradesh. However, now the well-marked low-pressure area has weakened into a low-pressure area and thus, rains will though continue lashing the state but will be patchy in nature for the next 24-48 hours.

However, these rains will be mainly confined to the foothills of the state. As a result districts such as Pilibhit, Rampur, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Khiri and Bareilly may witness patchy rains in the next 24 -48 hours. Thereafter, the intensity may once again increase resulting in reviving the Monsoon rains once again thereafter.

As on July 14, East Uttar Pradesh is 14% rainfall surplus while the rainfall stats for West Uttar Pradesh as on the same date stands at 4%.
