Phethai remnants give heavy rains over Nagaland, weather to clear up now

The state of Nagaland lies at the top in the north south orientation of the northeastern states. Usually, systems that form in Bay of Bengal during this time of the year affect Northeast India including Nagaland.

This time, a Cyclonic Storm Phethai had formed in the Bay of Bengal and had affected many parts of the East Coast including Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal along with the states of Jharkhand.

Thereafter, Phethai weakened and moved towards the Northeast India wherein its remnants resulted in moderate to heavy rains over many parts, particularly over Nagaland.

In the last 24 hours, as compared to other parts of Northeast India, Nagaland has received the most amount of rains at 25.2 mm of rains. On the other hand, Manipur saw 10.7 mm rain, Assam 20.9 mm, Tripura saw 12.8 mm of rains.

Talking about various cities, in a span of 24 hours, Peren recorded 61.5 mm of rains, Wokha 47.5 mm, Tseminyu 44.5 mm, Mokokchung 48.5 mm, Longleng 40.75 mm, Tuensang 31 mm, and Zunheboto 28.5 mm of rainfall along with Mon at 23 mm, Kohima 29.5 mm, Kiphire 14.5 mm.

However, now, rainfall is expected to now reduce over the state of Nagaland and dry weather will now commence paving way for increase in temperatures as well, at least to a marginal extent.
