Northeast Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh continue to reel under cold winds blowing from northern plains over the region, leading to drastic drop in minimum temperatures.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, north-westerly winds from North India coupled with local weather has resulted in dip in minimum temperatures.
On November 23, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh recorded 6.1°C, which was six degrees below normal, while Rewa witnessed 8°C that was again three degrees below normal.
In Chhattisgarh, Durg observed minimum temperature of 11.6°C, six degrees below normal. Similarly Ambikapur and Bilaspur recorded 10°C and 13°C, respectively, both four degrees below normal.
As per the forecast by Skymet, similar weather conditions are expected to prevail during the next 48 hours. Post this, wind pattern over the region is likely to change as the disturbances from west are going to affect the weather in northern plains. As a result, warm air will affect the prevailing cold wave, which will lead to increase in minimum temperatures.
Meanwhile, rest parts of Central India are observing clear weather conditions, with no significant rainfall activity.
