The month of September has brought some great news for the residents of Patna. The capital city of Bihar has recorded some good spells of rain during this period. So much so that many areas have been witnessing Monsoon showers on a continuous basis.

The last 24 hours were no different and Patna received very heavy rains during this period. In fact, during the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday to 5:30 am on Monday, Patna recorded a whopping 127 mm of rainfall.

These rains can be attributed to the movement of the axis of the Monsoon trough. At present, the western end of the trough is running in close proximity of the region which is why rains have increased over Patna.

As per Skymet Meteorology Division in India, Monsoon rains are expected to continue in Patna for at least 24 hours. The intensity of these showers is expected to remain between light to moderate. However, the possibility of a few very heavy spells cannot be ruled out.

So far, Patna has been able to record over 250 mm of rainfall against its monthly mean of 197.7 mm. Thus, the city has easily been able to surpass its monthly mean. With over two weeks left in September, the city is expected to receive a few more good rainy spells.
