Strong winds, lightning, rains likely in Patna, Jamshedpur, Ranchi for next 24 to 36 hours

In the past 24 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershower with strong winds have affected many places of Bihar and Jharkhand. Due to occurrence of rainfall, slight drop in day temperatures have been witnessed. On April 6, the maximums recorded for Patna and Supaul were 33.4°C and 26.1°C, respectively.

Presently, an Anti-Cyclonic Circulation lies over central parts of Bay of Bengal which is feeding warm and moist winds over Bihar and Jharkhand region. Simultaneously, an upper air trough is extending across South Uttar Pradesh to Chhattisgarh across southwest Bihar.

Another Cyclonic Circulation is over southeast Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal. In association with all the systems, the Western Disturbance is also moving across higher latitudes. Therefore, during next 24-36 hours, rainfall activity with thundershower and strong winds will be affecting some places of Bihar and Jharkhand. Places like Kishanganj, Katihar, Purulia, Supaul, Araria, Muzaffarpur, Paschimi and Purvi Champaran, Madhubani, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Bokaro and Gumla will witness light to moderate rain and thundershower activities with strong winds between 40-60 kmph.

On April 9 as well, scattered rain and thundershower activities are also expected over Bihar and Jharkhand with reduced intensity. Thus, these activities would continue for another two to three days but would gradually recede.
