In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, particularly Patna, Gaya, Bareilly, Lucknow and Varanasi received scattered light rain and thundershowers activities.
A trough extending from Uttar Pradesh up to Bihar and a fresh Western Disturbance over the hills of North India worked in tandem to give rains over the region. The trough has now weakened from parts of West Uttar Pradesh, but is likely to persist along the eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Therefore, we expect rains to occur in eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Places like Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, Varanasi and Allahabad may receive scattered rains. Similarly, in Bihar also many places will observe weather activities in terms of rain and thundershower. But the intensity of the activity will be subdued. However, one or two moderate spells cannot be ruled out.
Weather Alert - Rain and thundershowers with isolated squally winds and lightning will occur over Araria, Arwal, Aurangabad, Banka, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Buxar, Darbhanga, Gaya, Gopalganj, Jamui, Jehanabad, Kaimur (Bhabua), Katihar, Khagaria, Kishanganj, Lakhisarai, Madhepura, Madhubani, Munger, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, Nawada, Champaran, Patna, Purnia, Rohtas, Saharsa, Samastipur, Saran, Sheikhpura, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Siwan, Supaul and Vaishali districts of Bihar during next 12 hours.
In fact, due to the weak nature of these weather systems, heavy rains will not occur in both the states. Lightning strikes and hailstorm are also ruled out from Bihar and Jharkhand. Crop damage is not expected.
By tomorrow, the weather in Bihar as well as Uttar Pradesh will start clearing up. Initially, rains will vacate Uttar Pradesh, while Bihar may continue to receive few scattered spells. Thereafter, dry weather will prevail over both the states.
