Rains of varying intensity have been lashing several parts of Bihar since the arrival of Southwest Monsoon. The weather conditions remained the same during the last 24 hours as well.
In a span of 24 hours, Darbhanga received 15 mm of rainfall, followed by Chapra 14 mm, Muzaffarpur 5 mm and Dehri 4 mm. Traces of rainfall was also recorded in places like Gaya, Patna and Supaul.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bihar and adjoining areas and a trough is also extending from this system, with its one arm reaching South of Odisha and the other to East Assam.
As per Skymet Weather, the rainfall activity is likely to increase, particularly along the foothills of Bihar. Spells of moderate rain with few heavy spells is expected to occur over these area for another 48 hours.

During the same time frame, the plains of Bihar will see moderate rain with one or two heavy falls. Moderate to intense lightning strikes is also anticipated over the region.
Due to good rain and thundershowers over the state, Bihar is rain deficient by 12% as of July 8. The month of June ended with the rain deficiency of 50%. By the next week, the state may become rain surplus.
