The states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have been witnessing very good rains since many days. Mainly some parts of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar witnessed moderate to heavy intensity rains in the last few days. At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is still running close to the foothills of Himalayas.

However, the eastern end is passing through Patna and is dipping towards Gangetic West Bengal. It is anticipated that Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are likely to receive light to moderate rain for the next two days. But the weather of West Uttar Pradesh will remain mostly dry with isolated light rain activity. After 48 hours, rain activity will reduce over Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh also.
In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh received 16 mm of rain and Bahraich received 6 mm of rain. In the same span of time, Patna received moderate intensity rain of 29 mm and Gaya 15 mm of rain.

A fresh cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over Odisha coast which will move towards Chhattisgarh. Due to this weather system, rain intensity will increase over central parts of the country and will reduce over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. As the rain intensity has reduced over Nepal and even Bihar, it is likely that food situation will improve. Patna, Gaya, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar will continue witnessing good rains. While, Lucknow, Varanasi, Allahabad, Kanpur may receive only isolated light rains.
