Patiala, Ludhiana, Ambala, Chandigarh to get more rains

Punjab post

Most parts of Punjab and Haryana were witnessing dry weather for the last four days. The reason for this dry spell was the absence of any significant weather system over the region. However, the last 24 hours proved to be game-changing and both the states recorded some light rains.

Although, these spells mainly remained confined to the eastern half of both the states, the western part of Punjab and Haryana remained mainly dry.

As per Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough which was running close to the foothills has now shifted slightly southwards. In the wake of this, we expect the flow of easterly winds to resume over both the states which may, in turn, lead to rains in the coming days.

Scattered rains are being anticipated over these states until August 8 and 9. However, like before, the intensity of these rains would be more over East Punjab and Haryana. Cities like Patiala, Ludhiana, Ambala, Chandigarh, Karnal and Yamuna Nagar are more prone to get these rains. After August 8, the intensity of rains would reduce but scattered light rains would continue.

Henceforth, around August 11 or 12, the weather would become dry once again as the trough would again shift close to the foothills. Due to this, the foothills of Punjab and Haryana may get some good spells but South Punjab and Haryana would remain dry.
