Patchy rains in Delhi will not bring any relief from sultry weather

July 24, 2016 1:26 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Delhi-NCR witnessed patchy rains on Sunday. However, only eastern parts of Delhi and adjoining areas of Noida and Ghaziabad received some rains in the early afternoon hours. But, the western parts remained dry. We cannot rule out patchy rains in other parts as well, throughout the day.

The axis of the Monsoon trough is likely to shift further south of Delhi during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it may come closer to Delhi once again. For the next couple of days, weather will remain hot and humid with short spells of Monsoon rains in few parts of the national capital. The feel-like temperature will be quite high on account of the humidity levels.

Short and quick showers generally tend to increase the humidity levels. Thus, there will not be much relief as high humidity will make conditions worse.

Delhi at present is witnessing rainfall deficiency to the tune of 2%. On July 26, we could witness few good spells of Monsoon showers in Delhi and NCR. During the next couple of days, rainfall will be mainly light and patchy. The day maximum will hover around 35 degree Celsius while the minimum will be close to 28 degree Celsius.

Delhi has not received any rainfall for the last couple of days. The last spell of rainfall occurred on July 19, when the city received 8 mm of rain.
