Patchy rain in Delhi, Noida, Faridabad begin, courtesy Low Pressure Area

Unexpected Delhi rains on Thursday afternoon have made the weather pleasant over the national capital. According to Skymet Weather, with the low pressure area moving over Uttar Pradesh, wind pattern has reversed over Delhi-NCR to humid northeasterlies.

Moreover, humid winds from the Arabian Sea are also reaching the northwestern plains. As a result, meeting of winds from opposite directions have resulted in formation of a confluence zone over Delhi, hence leading to rains.

Intense clouding can be seen over parts of Delhi, particularly over northern areas along with Noida and Faridabad.

Some areas have already reported light rain and thundershowers, while others would start anytime now. However, these rains would be patchy in nature and not widespread. Intensity would be mainly light, with some intense spells over few areas only.

These rains would not have much impact on the temperature profile as they would be short lived. Rains are most likely to subside by tomorrow.

According to weathermen, there is no weather system which is directly impacting Delhi-NCR and its only the peripherals of the system reaching the city. Thus, we do not expect any significant rainy spell.

A good rainy spell is likely to approach Delhi around August 25, wherein most parts of the city could see rains.
