Mumbai weather had remained warm and uneasy since the beginning of October. In fact, the maximum temperatures at times even went four to five degrees above the normal levels resulting in extreme discomfort for the residents.

Moreover, the last time the city of Mumbai saw rainfall activities was during the fag end of September, that too, rains were light in nature.

Scattered rains had been occurring over southern parts of Konkan and Goa along with South Madhya Maharashtra. Now, a trough has developed along Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining Konkan and Goa.

Due to this feature, rainfall activity has shifted to the north up to Pune, Matheran, Lonavala as well as Mumbai. In fact, in the last 24 hours, Colaba observatory in Mumbai saw a good 15 mm of rains with Santa Cruz seeing rains of light intensity to the tune of 4 mm.

Now, conditions are favorable for few short spells of rains and thundershowers during the next 12 hours over Mumbai.

Thereafter, the trough will once again become less marked or insignificant leading to dry and warm weather conditions.
