Delhi woke up to another rainy morning on Tuesday, as on and off patchy Monsoon showers continued over the national capital. Further, weather conditions are favourable for some more spells of rains and thundershowers during the day.

Green and blue patches in the image above suggest rainfall activity expected over Delhi-NCR. While, yellow patches indicate live lightning status.

Though, intensity of rains was light but rains managed to make their presence felt over most parts of Delhi. This rainy spell had travelled from east to west direction owing to the easterly winds, wherein Noida recorded the showers first and later over Palam.

In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, city recorded 2 mm of rain. With this, the city has recorded 88 mm of rain so far.

Now as we proceed ahead, we expect rains to pick up pace significantly July 13 night onwards. We are likely to witness some good Monsoon rains on July 14 and July 15, predicts Skymet Weather.

These rains can be attributed to the trough running across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and further up to Bay of Bengal. This was also supported by another trough running across the three cyclonic circulations over Southwest Madhya Pradesh, Northeast Madhya Pradesh and North Odisha, respectively.

However, these circulations are now likely to move northwards and with this, both the troughs will merge together. Thereafter, trough will be running along the foothills of Himalayas, running in close proximity of Delhi-NCR, leading to increase in rains.
