Western coast of the country has been witnessing good Monsoon showers for past many days. West Coast of India is considered to be a major contributor towards Monsoon rains. Major chunk of rains that India witness comes from the West Coast.

From past 24 hours, most parts of the Western coast are witnessing active to vigorous Monsoon rains at many occasions. Konkan Goa and Central Maharashtra have observed vigorous rainfall while active rains were observed in Kerala. In fact most of the West coast region has recorded three digit rainfall.

During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, rainfall recorded in most parts of the west coast is displayed in the table below:

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, It is due to an offshore trough that is playing a vital role in these hefty rainfall. This offshore trough is expected to remain active for another 48 hours that will bring in more heavy rains for the West coast. Moreover, these rains are expected to be so vigorous that it might also achieve or exceed their monthly average rainfall and could possibly make a new record this season.

This can be made out from the table below that displays the actual rainfall recorded till date as compared to the monthly average rainfall of a few stations of West coast.

Thus, it can be concluded that most pockets of the West coast have already surpassed their monthly average rainfall till date. Hence, it can be said that June will end on a rainy note for the West Coast.
