Parts of UP, Bihar shiver as cold day conditions prevail

January 1, 2018 4:22 PM |

Cold days in Madhya Pradesh

For the past few days, dense to very dense fog has been persisting over parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The foggy mornings have not led the temperatures to scale up and the minimums are falling way beneath the normal.

In the wake of this, cold day conditions are also prevailing over many parts of Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places of Bihar.

As per Skymet Weather, the intensity of fog that has scaled up in the last 2-3 days is due to the approach of the Western Disturbance that has resulted in southeasterly winds and increased humidity while the temperatures were already low.

These were the pre-conditions for the formation of fog which was the scenario of most parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Now, the fog belt has further extended up to Punjab across Delhi, Haryana and covered some parts of Rajasthan.

During the last 24 hours, many parts of Uttar Pradesh such as Gorakhpur, Fursatganj, Hamirpur, Kanpur, Bahraich, Muzaffarpur, and Karnal witnessed cold day conditions where the minimum temperatures remained below the 16-degree mark.

Today, the cold-wave covered some more parts of Bihar, Haryana, and Punjab. Places such as Ambala, Patiala, and Gaya also reeled under cold day conditions.

We expect the similar weather to persist for another 24 hours over these states thereafter, the fog layer is expected to decrease gradually and the day temperature of Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh will start rising but parts of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will continue with cold-day conditions for next few days.
