During the last 24 hours, Santa Cruz recorded 45 mm and Colaba 16 mm of rain. Today we expect rain activity over Mumbai and suburb to remain from light to moderate over most parts of Mumbai and suburbs. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain marginally below normal due to intermittent light showers and cloud cover.
Rain activities over Mumbai and suburb may increase on August 20 and 21st. There may be few intense spells over Mumbai and suburbs during that period which may lead to waterlogging in low lying areas. These rain activities will not be very heavy which we have seen during the first week of August.
A cyclonic circulation is persisting over Gujarat and adjoining area due to this, humid moderate wind from the Arabian sea is bringing moisture over Mumbai and adjoining areas.
On and off rain activities are expected to continue until the end of August. The weather of Mumbai and adjoining areas will remain comfortable and temperatures will be marginally below normal or near normal.
Mumbai has already surpassed its seasonal rainfall. The lake area may also receive a few good spells of rain during the next few days. The water capacity of lakes is already raised to around 75%. Although this is much less than the previous year during the same time. But upcoming rains may give much-needed relief.
