Southwest Monsoon has been kind enough for the state of Madhya Pradesh this year. So much so that, during all the four months, good rains have been recorded over the region. In fact, on several occasions, heavy to very heavy rains have also occurred over the region.
However, Monsoon rains had taken a backseat over Madhya Pradesh for the past few days. Monsoon rains were far and few over the region. Nevertheless, Southwest Monsoon picked up pace again during the last 48 hours.
The last 24 hours were also rainy and good showers were recorded over the southern parts of the state. During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Friday to 5:30 am today, Satna recorded a good 38 mm, followed by Ujjain where 26 mm rainfall was recorded. Other areas to have recorded good showers include Rewa 4 mm, Sagar 10 mm, Jabalpur 11 mm, Ambikapur 3 mm, and Indore 4 mm.
These Monsoon showers can be attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation which is currently over southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas.
During the next 24 hours, a few more good spells of Monsoon rains is expected over the south and the southwestern parts of the state. Other areas of the state are also expected to witness scattered rains.
