Currently, a very strong Western Disturbance (WD) is affecting the hills of western Himalayas and northern plains. This WD has induced a cyclonic circulation over north-western parts of Rajasthan.
The trough from this cyclonic circulation is extending up to North Arabian Sea, near the southeastern coast of Karachi, and adjoining West Gujarat.
Now, south-westerly winds from the Arabian Sea will increase moisture content over Gujarat and adjoining southwest Madhya Pradesh (MP). Therefore, isolated rain and thunder showers are expected over few places in southwest MP, East and southeastern parts of Gujarat, and adjoining northern Madhya Maharashtra.
Day temperatures in the region, which are currently settling around mid-30s, may register a fall of one or two degree Celsius. Whereas the minimums are likely to rise due to humidity brought in by the winds.
These rains and thunder showers are expected to continue over the region for another 48 hours. Thereafter, this weather activity is likely to reduce significantly. Usually, during this time of the year, rains are very rare in these parts of the country. But the region does get occasional rain during on account of any weather system developing in the North Arabian Sea or when an induced cyclonic circulation forms over Rajasthan or adjoining areas.
Weather over western parts of Madhya Pradesh, South Gujarat, and most parts of Maharashtra was almost dry for quite some time now. This is due to the fact that Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from the country and Northeast Monsoon is not expected to set in before October 28.
