The state of Gujarat has been rather deficit in the month of June as there has not been any major rainfall during this time. Though Monsoon advanced a little early towards southern parts, but nothing significant in terms of rains have been seen.
Talking about the deficiency, the entire state has suffered much with Gujarat observing a deficiency of 44 percent, and Saurashtra and Kutch seeing 54 percent deficit rains. Now, rains are coming for many parts of Gujarat.
A Cyclonic Circulation is over Arabian Sea. A north south Trough is also running right across Gujarat, running up to Coastal Karnataka. These features will be responsible for rains over these areas.
Today, we can expect light rains with isolated moderate rains over Gujarat including Surat. Isolated places in Saurashtra including Veraval, Somnath, Porbandar, Diu may see moderate rains.
Tomorrow, both intensity and spread over the state will increase and more activity is expected over Gujarat, particularly South Gujarat. Heavy rains will be seen over Surat, Valsad, Vapi, Navsari, Bharuch and other parts of South Gujarat, along the coast. Also, southern parts of Saurashtra including Bhavnagar, Amreli, Una, Somnath, Diu, Mahuva and Veraval may see moderate to heavy rains.
Day after tomorrow, rain intensity will reduce and only light showers are expected over these areas.
