While light rain was recorded on the Monsoon onset day, conditions significantly improved yesterday. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Safdarjung observatory in Delhi recorded a whopping 45.2 mm of rain.
Yesterday’s rain figures are about 12 mm more than what the city received in the entire month of June. So far in July, the city had recorded more than 70 mm of rain, which will be helpful enough to let Delhi get closer to its monthly rainfall figures.
The monthly average rain for July stands at 187.3 mm, which means Delhi still has a long way to go. However, July looks promising and the city may be able to reach its monthly rainfall target unlike last month.
Due to the latest rainy spell, temperatures have also taken a dip and maximums now settle at 32.4 degree Celsius, which is four degrees below the normal levels. Now, during the next 24 hours, Delhi and the NCR region will receive patchy rains. Cloudy sky conditions will prevail over the national capital. Also, the possibility of one or two sharp showers cannot be ruled out during this period.
