Southwest Monsoon made an onset over Delhi on July 7, which was slightly delayed. Since then, the national capital has been receiving on and off rains with a few heavy spells in between. However, these rains were patchy in nature and only some parts of the city received rain during this period.

During the last two days, sultry weather conditions had taken over Delhi as well as the NCR region as rainfall was scanty. In fact, only one or two locations recorded one or two short spells of rain which did not affect the weather conditions and temperatures remained in the mid-30s.

Currently, parts of the national capital including West Delhi, North Delhi, Faridabad, and a few other areas have been receiving light rain. Also, short spells of rain may occur over Shahdara, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Jhajjar, Faridabad along with parts of South, Central, and East Delhi during the next two to four hours.

Now rains are likely to pick up pace from July 9 - July 10. During this period, scattered light to moderate rain can be expected over the national capital. Around July 10, temperatures may witness a drop leading to pleasant weather conditions. However, on and off patchy rain will continue over the national capital during the next 24 to 48 hours as well.

Now, the axis of Monsoon trough will shift northward, which will be South of Delhi by July 13 and 14. Thus, good showers are likely over Delhi and the NCR region around July 14.
