Rains in parts of Gaya, Nawada, Daltonganj, and Jharsuguda in next 24 hours, temperatures to drop

In the eastern part of the country, a Cyclonic Circulation continues to persist over North Bihar. An east-west trough is extending from this system to Arunachal Pradesh across Gangetic West Bengal and Bangladesh. Southerly winds are also feeding moisture to Coastal Odisha and South Coastal Gangetic West Bengal.

According to meteorologists at Skymet, temperatures might drop in the presence of easterly winds in many parts of North and Central Bihar. Whereas, South Bihar, Jharkhand, interior parts of Odisha and western parts of West Bengal would continue to witness above normal temperatures with isolated heat wave conditions.

The present systems will be responsible for giving scattered activities over North Bihar, North West Bengal and South Odisha coast. While, isolated activities will be seen in South Bihar, Jharkhand, East Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal.

Heat wave conditions would continue to be observed in parts of Gaya, Nawada, Daltonganj, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Purulia despite the chances of isolated rain. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, moderate rainfall to the tune of 30 mm has been recorded in Jamshedpur, Balasore recorded 26 mm, Digha 16 mm, Bhagalpur 19 mm, Bhubaneswar 13 mm, Kendujhar 12 mm and Bankura 11 mm.

On the other hand, Gaya, Daltonganj and Sundergarh reeled under heat wave conditions and recorded a maximum of 43.2°C, 46.6°C and 42°C, respectively.
