Parching Heat Coming Up For Gujarat, Soaring Above 40 Degree All Over Again

March 24, 2022 9:04 PM |

State of Gujarat blistered with heat around the festival Holi. Temperatures climbed to 42°C  at Ahmedabad, Amreli, Surendranagar, Kandla and Keshod.  Mercury breached 40°C mark at many places over Saurashtra & Kutch and North & Central Gujarat.  Even the coastal cities witnessed heat wave conditions with temperatures in excess of 37°C.  Another round of heat looms large shortly, for most parts of the state.

The state of Gujarat remains largely  free from any thunderstorm or dust storm  activity, during the pre monsoon season.  Only the changing  wind pattern under the influence of weather systems moving across northern plains cast ‘Hot’ and Not so Hot’ spells, like during last one week.  Northeasterly winds from the north blowing across Rajasthan and penetrating most parts of the state have suppressed the excruciating  heat  for the last few days.  However, the change is temporary and heat is expected to build up again after 2-3 days.

Seasonal anticyclonic pattern is going to be distorted over the next few days.  Northeasterly winds, which are relatively mild will get blocked and hot winds are expected to sweep the region. Heat wave conditions are likely between 26th and 28thMarch. Prominent places like Basankantha, Sabarkantha, Deesa, Mehsana, Palanpur, Patan,Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot , Amreli, Junagarh, Veraval and Bhuj  are expected to swelter with heat and scorch during this period.  The extreme heat may commence in some parts from 26th March onward and cover most parts, lasting till end of the month.
